| AFTERSCHOOL CARE FOR SCHOOLAGE CHILDREN |
The infant portion of the program is designed to meet the needs of the infants. There is an emphasis on individual attention including rocking, holding, singing and talking. The teachers set a relaxed pace based on the emerging abilities of the children in their group. Infants and their teachers may listen to music or read a story. There are areas to crawl around and explore or rock and be cuddled.
Toddlers may come for either just the morning or the full day. The toddlers are offered attention and equipment to help them grow in motor and language skills. They also receive love and attention to help them grow emotionally. Their day is a play-centered day with guidance and direction from their teachers. They have time for music, story and fine motor activities.
The toddler stage is an active stage and right outside their door is their very own playground or in inclement weather an indoor gross motor area. This is a busy time when they are beginning to learn to play together, acquiring new vocabulary, and many gross motor skills. Equipment is provided to challenge them and help them feel success at new achievements.
